- A rising jazz talent from Azerbaijan, Ulviyya has been singing since she was 7. She began her career in the ‘Beri Bax’ musical group, led by Rauf Babayev. Since then she has been heard performing at a number of venues in Baku, most commonly at the Jazz Centre. She has been a long time collaborator with pianist and winner of the 2009 Montreaux Jazz Festival Isfar Sarabski. Ulviyya sings jazz with accents of local rhythms and a soulful, yet optimistic sound. Her influences include jazz standards, bossa nova, soul, and traditional music from the Caucasus. Her music fuses these styles to create a unique, personal sound.
